Just a little background on me and what I do:

I'm glad you've taken the time today to check out this section as I feel it's rather important to always know the people you are working with. My name is Michael A. Dixon, I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM and had a grandmother who was a wildlife biologist which helped build my love for animals of all kinds and my massive respect for the natural world.

Funny enough, as a child I was rather phobic of centipedes even though I had never been envenomated by one. Now about 6 years ago I was in a small pet shop in Greater Phoenix, AZ and saw a what I thought at the time was a amazing colored centipede. It was labeled "Vietnamese Giant". This specimen was actually a S. Dehaani and was only around 5.5". I grew up around S. Polymorpha and had even once found a massive 8" individual but they averaged only 6" in my area so this one seemed small. One day I got brave and started attempting handling (very bad idea with this species) which I was told not to do. All was well for a while but one day, I coxed it out against its will which is a big no no for all pedes, long story short I experanced the most horrifying pain one could ever imagine. Fortunately this experience only increased my interest in these amazing creatures and also increased my respect for them and changed my life forever. So here I am today, more into the centipede hooby then I have ever been and my last few years of work are finally coming together.

Some of you may already know me from my YouTube channel "ThePureLife" or from Arachnoboards as "Mastigoproctus" but for those who don't check out some of my vids or threads on AB.

I myself work closely everyday with these creatures, possibly closer then anyone as I handle them everyday for long periods of time. So now I should add,

~I DO NOT CONDONE HANDLING CENTIPEDES, ADVERTISE IT AS A GOOD IDEA, OR SUGGEST ANYONE DO SO AS IT IS ALWAYS A RISK. WHAT I DO IS MY OWN CHOOSING BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN ITS RIGHT OR OK.~

Please everyone, be responsible, let's make sure this hobby flourishes and isn't impacted by anyone's bad decisions. I am always here to help where I can, feel free to ask any care questions or more about me if you'd like at my personal email
